  • YouTuber SadlyItsBradley posted a video of himself taking the Meta Quest 3 headset to Disney World.
  • Others have recorded themselves wearing the Quest 3 while going to bars or going about their daily chores.
  • Given the portability of the mixed reality headset, the YouTuber said it’s great to use on the go.

According to YouTube’s Bradley Lynch, the new Meta Quest 3 headset is best enjoyed on the go. To prove his point, the YouTuber took his mixed reality headset to Disney World for a day.

Lynch, who posts under the YouTube account SadlyItsBradley, said in his video that he wants to publicly play the role of “devil’s advocate” for people who own a Meta Quest 3 headset. According to him, the ability to use the headset while walking is actually one of its main advantages.

In the video, Lynch shows himself at Disney World walking around Epcot, looking at Cinderella’s castle, sitting on a ride and watching a fireworks display, all while wearing the Quest 3.

“I’m an absolute glass a-hole,” he said in the video, referring to an old insult to early adopters of Google’s ill-fated Glass headset who were criticized for wearing the controversial device in public.

Lynch said in the video that since you’re sacrificing the power of a desktop device for the mobility of an all-in-one with the Quest 3, it makes sense to use it.

He also said that since the device uses camera-based tracking, it works best in well-lit areas, such as outdoors. It also works better during the day, as Lynch said his view of the fireworks didn’t look great through the headset.

When it came to living indoors in mixed reality, Lynch told Insider that the light in her home wasn’t bright enough to give her a good view through the headset. He said the Meta headset needs to improve its visuals to make it preferable to a PC.

As for people’s reactions, Lynch told Insider that most Disney World visitors didn’t bother him, but when he was sitting on the artificial grass outside the castle, people would point and smile at him.

“The best reaction was actually when I was pulled over by Disney security for a lengthy Q&A,” Lynch said. “

According to the YouTuber, one of the weaknesses of the device is that the experience was not 100% hands-free. In the video, Lynch said he had to click and drag virtual windows of content to stay with him as he walked through the park.

Another problem Lynch noticed with the device is that it distorts your vision. For example, sometimes riding fences look crooked. This is something other people who used the device also noticed. Threads user @Jaymayo_visits also had a warp effect when he wore the Quest 3 at New York Comic Con.

As someone who lives near Disney World, Lynch told Insider that he visits the parks regularly, which allows him to film himself in the park and possibly put the headset back on.

“I imagine a lot of local park visits in my future while looking like a three-eyed cyborg,” he said, pointing to the three prominent outward-facing cameras on the front of the Quest 3.

Lynch is the latest person to dare to wear the Quest 3 in public. Other tech enthusiasts have taken to platforms like X, TikTok and Reddit to share videos of themselves wearing the device in public. Maybe one day mixed reality will become a part of everyday life.

“I don’t think these devices need to become little sunglasses for a lot of people to want to use them instead of laptops. I think function over form will attract more people than they think,” Lynch said.
