TestFlight update addresses bug affecting iOS 17.1 users

Apple didn’t release iOS 17.1 to the public on Tuesday as many expected, but the company has released an important update to TestFlight that fixes an issue for users who have already updated their devices to iOS 17.1 RC and iPadOS 17.1 RC .

TestFlight bug affects iOS 17.1 users

According to the TestFlight 3.4.3 release notes, the update fixes a bug that prevented some users from redeeming a code to download a beta app on the platform. Specifically, Apple says the bug affects the latest version of iOS available to developers and beta testers. With today’s TestFlight update, this bug is fixed.

“Specifically, an issue that prevented users from accepting an invitation to test a beta program via a redemption code has been resolved,” the company says in the release notes. “Testers on iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1 or later must use the latest version of TestFlight to accept an invitation via a redemption code.”

For those unfamiliar, TestFlight is an Apple platform that allows developers to distribute their beta apps to users outside of the App Store. Users can be invited to download a beta program via email, direct link, or using a redemption code.

More information about the update

Apple started testing the beta version of iOS 17.1 about a month ago. The update brings some new features to iPhone and iPad, such as a new button for favorite songs and options to customize playlist artwork in Apple Music.

iOS 17.1 also adds a new option to turn off the screen in standby mode after 20 seconds, AirDrop via cellular, and improved the way the Action button works on the iPhone 15 Pro.

While Apple hasn’t confirmed a release date for iOS 17.1, a French regulator revealed that the update will be released to the public today, which obviously didn’t happen. However, given that the RC (Release Candidate) build was released a few days ago, this update could be available to everyone at any time.

As for TestFlight, you can download the latest version for free on the App Store.
